CASE MANAGEMENT DIRECTED BY YOUR PERSONAL GOALS

We are here to assist you reach your personal goals.  Everyone accepted in the houses have pledge to make a 3 month, 6 month and 1 year plan for their lives.   These are your goals, your decisions and your work down the path you choose.  We will be available and continually assess your plan, as we walk side by side with you.   These homes are transitional not permanent housing.  

Our hope is that Veterans will take full advantage of this opportunity.

AFFAIRS

Veteran Affairs Hospital in Portland, Vancouver and the numerous Community Based Outpatient Clinics are not only a great source for most, if not all, of the Veterans' physical and mental needs but it also provides numerous activities to intermingle socially with other Veterans.


With a copy or your DD214, a multitude of doors to programs and opportunities can be opened to you.


Should you need assistance with the Veterans Affairs, the staff will be happy to assist you.  Mention it on your application and during the initial assessment.

PERSONAL GROWTH & 

LIFE SKILLS 

Initial Assessment will be performed to include basic life and social needs, determined by personal short and long term goals. Quarterly assessment will follow for up to 2 years ending with an exit assessment.

Life skills will be taught, shared and used daily as you learn to live with other fellow Veterans in different phases in their lives.

Besides A Warrior's Way's rules, the house will come together to discuss weekly expectations, address issues and divide house responsibilities.

The Program

TRANSITIONAL HOUSING​

Transitional housing will be provided for individual Veterans that are currently or potentially homeless.  The goal is to give the Veteran a safe environment where he can focus on rebuilding himself while helping others.

We encourage Veterans to actively engage in their medical necessities and in seeking employment, or following their educational goals.  We welcome Veterans to reside at the house for 6 months after getting on their feet, to offer some stability amidst all the changes.


Transitional housing is limited to 2 years

COMMUNITY RESOURCES

Residents during screening will be connected to agencies and community resources that can meet their needs or provide assistance

Staff will be available (upon appointment) to assist the residents in making connections.  We all have gone through difficult times in our lives and want to help you through yours as well.  We know you will help others later as well.

EMPLOYMENT ASSISTANCE

There will be a house computer and internet access provided for residents to write resumes and seek employment.  Staff will be available upon appointment to assist the resident should he desire.


The VA has Compensated Work Therapy which provides an excellent opportunity to enter the workforce.  This experience can be invaluable to achieve permanent employment within the VA or with another business.

EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANCE

If you are eligible for the GI Bill or the 911 GI Bill and want to pursue a college degree, Clark College is a great place to start.  It has a very active Veteran's Club that provides assistance with all paperwork, class tutoring, mentoring, textbook swapping and numerous fun Veteran activities.  Clark College celebrates their Veterans.

Should you continue onto a 4 year College or University, the staff (upon appointment) can help with filing applications and applying for scholarships and grants

A WARRIOR'S WAY is as much your program as it is ours.  We get inspired by the selfless service of Veterans and the boundless courage of our brothers and sisters to not only overcome their combat scars but also to face head on everyday' life challenges

You signed on the line when you joined the military services.  You did not know what the future held but you put your foot forward.  


Now together, we help each other by standing side by side and  moving forward.


Our goal is to assist Veterans regain their inner strength through a one foot in front of the other methodology.
